According to the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) based on reports from the Agricultural Specialist at the US Embassy in Beijing as well as the Chinese Ministry of Finance, the Chinese government plans to remove U.S. Hardwood lumber import tariffs starting February 28 for one year.
This announcement was made around 4pm Beijing time; AHEC was still working to clarify which species will be included. It appears that Chinese companies will be able to “apply for refunds of collected duties” within six months from Feb. 21. AHEC will update when more information is confirmed.
